Sealing Rodent Entry Points in Golden, CO
Sealing is the lasting part of the work. We find each opening, size it and cover it with metal that teeth cannot get through, since foam and thin plastic lose to rodents inside a few days.
- Phone staffed 24/7.Late nights and holidays reach a live person.
- Look before acting.Evidence is mapped before a trap or sealant goes in.
- Metal, not foam.Mesh, flashing and hard-cure sealant close each gap.

Fix the building, not just the room.
Removing animals without closing gaps only invites the next group. Exclusion treats the structure as the problem. The technician walks every wall, vent, roof edge and foundation line and marks anything wider than a quarter inch.
That limit is deliberate. A mouse can squeeze through a gap about as thick as a pencil, so a quarter inch is a safe cutoff for what to close.
Common hiding places for gaps.
- Spots where utility lines, gas pipes and cable come into the house.
- Unscreened dryer vents, bath fans and range hoods.
- Corner of the garage doors and the threshold under them.
- Soffits, fascia and the points where a roof meets a wall.
- Foundation vents, crawl space doors and cracked masonry.
- Decks, steps and porches set against the siding.
Freeze and thaw can nudge a seam open at any of these places. A hairline crack in late summer may be a mouse-sized hole by February, which is why we check after winter as well as at the first visit.
Materials on the truck.
| Type of gap. | Material. | Reason it holds. |
|---|---|---|
| Round pipe or cable entry. | Metal collar, mesh and sealant. | Teeth cannot cut the metal and sealant fills the voids. |
| Vent and soffit openings. | Hardware cloth or metal screen. | Air still flows but animals cannot pass. |
| Corner of the garage door. | New seal or threshold. | Shuts the gap that shows as daylight. |
| Crack in masonry. | Hard-cure patch compound. | Stands up to gnawing better than ordinary caulk. |
| Space beneath a shed floor. | Buried mesh or flashing. | Stops digging as well as squeezing. |
Steel wool is sometimes packed behind mesh but never used alone. Rodents can drag it out, and it rusts when damp.
Getting the order right.
Sealing follows trapping once activity has ended, with one exception. A one-way exit hole can be closed earlier if the technician can verify that nothing is inside. Otherwise we wait.
When you book, the dispatcher explains which stage you have reached and what the next costs.
Older and newer buildings.
We cannot say how old any given Golden house or shop is, so we do not guess. As a general rule, recent construction may leave gaps at utility lines, and older buildings may show more wear around doors and vents. In both cases we work through the same list, and the plan reflects your actual house.
If the signs above match yours, the next move is a conversation, and the line is open now.

- Look over each repair twice a year, in spring and again in fall.
- Replace a worn door sweep immediately.
- Hold plants and wood stacks back from the foundation.
- Report fresh gnaw marks early, before they widen.
Not sure whether to close a gap yourself? An inspection shows which ones are critical and which can wait.
Do and do not, for rodent waste
Hurrying a cleanup can do more harm than the mess. Keep to the order shown.
- Skip brooms and vacuums entirely. They throw dry droppings into the air you breathe, so they stay in the closet.
- Give a closed room time to breathe: open doors and windows, then stay out for about half an hour.
- Hands carry waste to faces, so gloves go on first and a careful wash comes last.
- Soak the mess through and leave it around five minutes, so the dust cannot rise.
- Lift a dead rodent into a bag with a gloved hand or a tool, then seal it together with the used towels before the bin.
- Fever, aches or shortness of breath within a few weeks of cleaning calls for a doctor. Say what you handled. A pest company cannot advise on health.

What a sealing job gives you.
Hard materials only.
Steel mesh, sheet-metal flashing and hard-cure sealant outlast teeth in a way that foam and caulk never do.
Each opening listed.
The plan names every gap, its size and the material chosen, so you see precisely what is being shut.
A check afterward.
We return to look for fresh gnawing at the repairs and fix anything that was probed.

(888) 686-4821Sealing: your questions answered.
What is wrong with spray foam?
Rodents chew it and then use the shreds to line nests. Foam can fill around metal, but it should never be the only barrier.
Could sealing shut an animal inside?
Not when it follows trapping. We confirm that activity has stopped before closing the main entries.
Does freeze and thaw break a seal?
Movement from temperature swings can open sealant over time, which is one reason to recheck repairs after winter.
How long does the work take?
A small house can be finished in a day. Large or complicated rooflines take longer, and the plan gives an estimate.
Do you repair roofs or siding?
No. We close rodent entries. Bigger roofing or siding work goes to other trades, and we say so when we see it.

Scoping a sealing job.
One quote covers sealing for the entire building. Tell us about the roofline, the vents, the garage door seal and any deck or step that meets the siding, since these decide which materials are used.
